NILPHAMARI, Dec 01: A project of pisciculture has been jointly undertaken by the army, local administration and Fisheries Department to increase fish production and alleviate poverty of the poor beneficiaries of the project.
The project has been strongly patronised by army chief Gen Moeen U Ahmed who recently released 30kg of fish fry in the project canal's Balagram UP location in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari district.
Sources said the entire 93km main canal of the Teesta Barrage will come under a comprehensive and integrated project of pisciculture, forestry and poultry farms. Thousands of people will be benefited by the project and it would let the district become osurplus in fish production.
