MoF to form mid-term budgetary framework unit

FE Report
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) will form a mid-term budgetary framework (MTBF) unit aiming to strengthen the budget management of the line ministries, sources said.
It has to form the unit under its financial management reform programme. As such budget management branch, according to sources, is expected to bring improvement in the performance of the MTBF ministries.
Currently, 14 ministries including those of agriculture, health, local government, communication, education and primary education, are included in the MTBF that was introduced a couple of years ago.
As there is no expected improvement in the performance of the MTBF ministries, the MoF feels it necessary to establish the unit under a deputy secretary, sources said.
Sources added that the MoF had already sought opinions from the line ministries.
With the proposed MTBF unit, the MoF has decided to formulate three units.
Two other units are tax policy and microfinance.
All the units will be placed under the MoF.
