Mohammed Siraj becomes first Indian to take four wickets in an over

COLOMBO, Sept 17 (Agencies): Mohammed Siraj makes history as he scalped four wickets in a single over in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka and becomes the fifth bowler in history and the first Indian to pick up four wickets in ODI match.
The pacer achieved the feat at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
After Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, Siraj wreaked havoc in the opposition batting. In his second over, Siraj picked up the wickets of Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva.
The opening spell reduced Sri Lanka to 12 for the loss of five wickets in four overs. After Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kusal Perera, Siraj ripped the heart out of the Sri Lankan batting.
In this feat, he etched his name in history, becoming the first Indian bowler to secure four wickets in a single over of men's ODIs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka's legendary bowler Chaminda Vaas, Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga, England's Adil Rashid and Pakistan's Mohammad Sami picked up four wickets in an over.
