Mohammedan emerges group A Champion, Eti takes 5 wickets

A 5-wicket haul by Eti Mondal guided Mohammedan SC to emerge unbeaten group A champion in the Women's Club Cup Cricket tournament with an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium (DCS) in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
Batting first after winning the toss, Dhaka Wanderers Club were dismissed for paltry 37 runs in 24.1 overs in the face of devastating bowling by Eti Mondal, who scalped five wickets for only six runs.
Apart from Eti's 5-wicket haul, Salma Khatun took two wickets for four runs.
In reply, Mohammedan SC cantered to their target of 38 runs in 5.1 overs without losing any wicket.
Openers Rubiya Haque and Shuktara remained unbeaten on 17 and 12 runs respectively.
In the day's group B match, Azad SC registered their first win in the meet keeping the semifinal hope alive as they beat Kalabagan KC by 88 runs at the Gulshan Youth Club (GYC) ground.
Favoured by coin, Kalabagan KC batted first to score 203 runs for seven wickets in stipulated 40 overs with two down Rita Khatun making 40 off 41 balls with six fours.
Sabrina Akter and Soma Chakravorty took two wickets each for 31 and 42 runs respectively.
Chasing the stiff target, Kalabagan KC were dismissed for 115 in 40 overs.
Tulika Biswas contributed match highest 41 runs off 70 balls with six fours. Sathira Zakir Jessy claimed four wickets for 14 runs.
Today's (Monday's) matches: Indira Road KC vs BKSP (GYC); Ansar & VDP vs Azad SC (DCS).
