Title aspirant Mohammedan SC faces Brothers Union Club in a high-voltage second phase match of the B League tomorrow (Saturday) with both teams expecting to win the important match, reports UNB.
The match gets underway at 4:15pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Private TV channel ATN Bangla will telecast live the match.
The popular black & white Motijheel outfit is now dominating the second slot in the league table with 35 points while the 'all-orange' Gopibagh outfit bagged 23 points, both playing 17 matches. Abahani Limited reigns the league table with 38 points, playing the same number of matches.
Talking to UNB, Mohammedan SC manager Amirul Islam Babu said they are taking seriously their remaining three matches, as they are still in the championship race.
"It's a good opportunity for us to be champions in the maiden league. So, all the matches are final for us. Even if we win all the three matches, still we'll have to wait for Abahani's results," he said. Babu said there is no injury and card problem in the team.
The Mohammedan SC manager said Saturday's match would be competitive, as Brothers Union is a big team.
Brothers Union Club manager Amer Khan said the match against Mohammedan SC would be a matter of prestige for them as the Gopibagh outfit failed to win any match against big teams in the league. "As we're already out of the championship race, so we want to win at least one big match," he said.
Amer said midfielders Monowar Hossain and Moroccan recruit Hicham Inani, who suffered injuries, might miss Saturday's match.
Mohammedan SC made their final practice this afternoon while Brothers Union in the morning at their respective grounds.
Earlier in the first phase, Mohammedan SC edged past Brothers Union Club by a solitary goal in Dhaka.
