Mohammedan suffer 2nd defeat as Abahani back in winning streak

Rupganj, Old DOHS get wins in DPL

Mohammedan Sporting Club, who had a flying start in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premeir Division Twenty20 Cricket League, suffered their second defeat on Tuesday at BKSP, report agencies.
In the rain-hit game, which was reduced to 6 overs-a-side, Mohammedan lost by 22 runs to Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club.
Shakib Al Hasan-led Mohammedan won the toss and opted to bat first. Primed Doleshwar posted 78 runs for four wickets in six overs riding on 14-ball 41 by Imran Uzzaman and 16-ball 29 by Shamim Hossain.
For Mohammedan, Abu Jayed bagged two wickets while Shakib and Ruyel Mia took one wicket each.
In reply, Mohammedan managed only 56 runs losing four wickets in six overs and lost the game by 22 runs. For Prime Doleshwar, Shafiqul Islam bagged three wickets.
It was Mohammedan's second defeat in five matches, while it was the fourth win of Prime Doleshwar in as many matches.
Meanwhile, defending champions Abahani Limited hit back in winning ways in the DPL, crushing Gazi Group Cricketers by seven wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Tuesday.
Abahani tasted a shocking eight-run defeat to Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity on Monday, which ended their three-match winning streak. But on a day when they needed to bounce back, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim played the anchor role and got support from Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.
Both of them hit an unbeaten half-century as Abahani Limited cantered to the victory with 153-3 in 18 overs, after Gazi Group posted 150-8.
Mushfiqur Rahim struck an unbeaten 53 off 35, hitting four fours and one six while Mosaddek Hossain was not out on 50 off 28 with four fours and three sixes.
They shared a 105-run partnership for an unbeaten fourth wicket stand after Abahani was on the brink of another defeat, being reduced to 48-3.
Legends of Rupganj beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 14 runs, and Old DOHS beat Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity by 16 runs.
