Mohiuddin urges BCL to safeguard country\\\'s sovereignty

CHITTAGONG, Jan 3 (BSS): Former city mayor and president of Chittagong city Awami League (AL) ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury today called upon the BCL leaders and activists to work together for safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of the country.
"The BCL has turned into the largest student organisation of the country through sacrifices of lives of thousands of leaders and activists", he commented.
He was addressing a big student rally held on the Shaheed Minar premises to mark the 67th founding anniversary of the BCL.
BCL city unit arranged the rally and brought out a colourful procession in the city to mark the organisation's 67th founding anniversary.
Addressing the rally as the chief guest Mohiuddin made a clarion call to the rank and file of the organisation to establish terrorism-free campuses and build up enlightened Bangladesh as per the commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier, the BCL leaders and workers formally heralded the anniversary programmes by placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar and at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Presided over by BCL city unit president Imran Ahmed Imu, the rally was addressed among others by Chittagong AL General Secretary (GS) AZM Nasir Uddin, AL leaders- Safar Ali, freedom fighter Amol Mitra, city BCL GS Nurul Azim Rony, BCL leaders- M R Azim, Mohammad Salahuddin, Nazmul Hoque Duke, Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar, Hasan Murad Biplob and Devashish Paul Debu.
