CHITTAGONG, Apr 24: Chittagong city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has expressed deep concern at the murder of three students in separate incidents in Chittagong University including the recent killing of Asaduzzaman Asad by assailants.
In a statement he said that the police, RAB, DSB and CID members have engaged themselves in search of the killers of Asad and they would be able to find out and take lawful action against the culprits.
"It is being observed that a number of unruly students in the name of Chhatra League have resorted to destructive activities to create an impasse in the academic atmosphere of the university and destroy the academic life of thousands of students by laying siege on the roads and ransacking everything all around including damaging public and private transports," he said.
They have also demanded resignation of the vice chancellor of the CU and threatened to kill him at the instigation of the conspirators. Such immoral, unruly and destructive activities cannot be accepted, he added.
He warned that the students who will be found guilty of such destructions further will face stern action.
