Mohsin Jute Mill declared laid-off

KHULNA, Mar 11: Mohsin Jute Mill has been declared laid-off for 45 days due to financial crisis as unsold finished goods piled up. Frustration gripped the workers and employees at the declaration of lay-off by the authority Sunday.
The mill, situated at Shiromoni area of the city, was established by local entrepreneurs. The mill was running with total 657 permanent and 245 temporary workers.
General Manager of the mill Anowarul Momin informed that the mill incurred a huge loss as goods remained unsold price declined in the overseas markets in the last 3 months and, as a result, the authority declared lay-off for 45 days.
He also said wages and salaries of the workers and staff would be paid according to the concerned labour law during the lay-off period. The mill authority, however, deployed police for avoiding any unwanted situation.
