MoI draws up national productivity master plan

Talha Bin Habib | Monday, 22 July 2019

The Ministry of Industries (MoI) has devised a master plan on national productivity aiming to cope with the growing and emerging challenges in the industrial sector.
The National Productivity Organisation (NPO), which is under the MoI, has prepared the 'Bangladesh National Productivity Master Plan 2021-2030' in cooperation with Japan-based Asian Productivity Organisation (APO).
Under the 'National Strategic Plan of Japan', the master plan has been formulated to boost sector-wise productivity in the country.
Earlier, the NPO organised a workshop where the representatives of different sectors gave their suggestions about the master plan.
The master plan, however, suggested modern and time-befitting innovations and capacity-building for achieving the ultimate goals of the country's industrial development.
Besides, it will help enhance capacity-building to achieve the country's target to become a middle-income country by 2024.
"We have prepared the master plan on national productivity considering the global challenges and demand, and the country's development," a deputy secretary of the MoI, involved with the process, told the FE.
The master plan has been drafted to boost the country's industrial productivity and improve the quality of products, he added.
The industries ministry official said productivity in the industrial, agriculture and other sectors will increase once the master plan is implemented.
Besides, it (master plan) will help build the overall capacity to prepare for the national development in future and increase productivity.
Only excellence in productivity could no longer guarantee any organisation to survive in the competitive world. The organisation must make a long-term plan to develop future-readiness strategies.
However, APO will hand over the master plan to the MoI on Monday (today) putting forward suggestions how to act to address risks and seize opportunities to build on productivity growth, keeping consistency in current needs.
