Momen appointed ACC chairman

FE REPORT | Wednesday, 11 December 2024

Senior Secretary Mohammad Abdul Momen has been appointed chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday.
Alongside, two new commissioners have been selected: Mian Md. Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd.) Hafiz Ahsan Farid, according to the gazette notification.
Mr Momen previously served as senior secretary in the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He resigned from that position, and the government annulled his contract-based appointment.
In 2013, while serving as joint secretary, Mr Momen was sent into forced retirement by the then Awami League (AL) government.
He was reappointed under contract as secretary to the Public Security Division after a student-led uprising toppled the government on August 5. Mr Momen was later promoted to the rank of senior secretary.
The positions of ACC chairman and commissioners have been vacant since October 29, following the resignation of former chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and two commissioners, Md Zahurul Haque (Investigation), and Afsia Khatun (Enquiry).
