Money alone won't bring expatriates success in nat'l polls: PM

NEW YORK, Sept 27 (BSS): Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Sunday sought increased contribution from expatriate Bangladeshis for the national development but cautioned them from getting involved in election politics overnight saying money alone would not bring them success.
"One needs to get acquainted with his constituency . . . you may see people crowding around you for your money, but the reality is the money would not give you the results," she told a civic reception at the Hilton Hotel.
She said in line with election commitments, her government had taken steps to incorporate expatriates in the electoral role and allow them to cast votes expecting their enhanced engagement in national politics and development but this was unlikely to benefit the intending election candidates who remain out of touch with their constituencies for long.
