Money behind Ansar murder

Police suspect enmity of two businessmen behind the murder of an Ansar member in Moghbazar area of Dhaka city. Abdul Alim, 28, was shot dead at around 1:00am on Thursday in front of BTCL colony near Wireless Gate. Ramna Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain said Alim had stopped a few young men from entering the BTCL colony when they had refused to identify themselves. After a heated exchange of words, the men fired at Alim and fled. Ramna OC Moshiur Rahman suspects hostility of BTCL colony residents ‘Ramij’ and ‘Ahad’ behind the murder. He said the two, involved in trade of electronic products for long, recently had a feud over money. The OC said police got information that Ramij owed Ahad around Tk 10 million. Ahad had complained with police that Ramij was ‘threatening him in different ways’ after he asked for the money. Police suspect Ramij sent the youths to the colony to kill Ahad. The OC said they were looking for Ahad, whose arrest could lead them to know about the motive, according to bdnews24.com.
