Mongla Port gets new chairman

Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad took over as Chairman of the Mongla Port Authority on Sunday, according to a press release signed by Md. Makruzzaman, Deputy Secretary of Mongla Port Authority.
He replaced Rear Admiral Mohammad Mozammel Haque, who was Chairman of the Mongla Port Authority (MPA) since September, 2019.
An alumni of Pabna Cadet College, Rear Admiral Azad (G), NGP, ndc, psc, BN, was born on April 30, 1967, in Kumarkhali of Kushtia district. He joined Bangladesh Navy in January, 1985, and was commissioned in executive brunch on July 01, 1987. In his long career, he successfully accomplished different national and international assignments which encompass critical and sensitive Command, Staff and instructional experiences within Navy as well as in Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Inter-Services organisations.
Prior to joining the MPA as Chairman, Rear Admiral Azad served as the chief of the Naval Intelligence Branch at the Naval Headquarters.
Earlier, he served as the Director General of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Bancon-1, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at RAB headquarters, and as the Director General of the Civil Military Relations of the Armed Forces Division.
He also held significant appointments, such as Contingent Commander in BANCON-4 and Director of Naval Training at Naval Headquarters.
