Monirul, Sabura emerge champs in nat'l long distance swimming

Mohammad Monirul Islam of Rajshahi Alamgir Swimming Club and Sabura Khatun of Kushtia Sagarkhali Swimming Club emerged champions in the men's and women's groups of the Keya Cosmetics 9th National Long Distance Swimming Competition held in the Shitalakhya River Saturday, reports UNB.
Celebrated national swimmer Karar Samedul Islam of Bangladesh Navy finished runner-up while Sepoy Zakirullah of Bangladesh Air Force placed third in the men's group.
In the women's group, Momtaz Shirin and Lovely Khatun of Bangladesh Ansar finished second and third respectively.
Bangladesh Swimming Federation president and Navy Chief Sarwar Jahan Nizam was the chief guest in both the inaugural and closing ceremonies of the meet.
National Sports Council (NSC) Director (Admin) Akbar Hossain, Director (Sports) Haiul Qaiyum, Deputy Commissioners of Narayanganj and Munshiganj districts were also present.
The daylong competition began from the BIWTA VIP terminal in Narayanganj and concluded at Munshiganj Launch Ghat of the Dhaleswari River.
