Monsoon brings relief to Dhaka
Over 56mm rain recorded in 2hrs

Dhaka residents finally experienced a much-needed reprieve from the scorching heat and high levels of humidity as the sky turned cloudy on Thursday afternoon, enveloping the metropolis in darkness.
The rain began in the capital at around 5:00 pm, followed by thunderous clouds.
The city witnessed 56 mm rain until 7:00 pm on Thursday, which was the highest in a single day of June this year.
Sylhet, meanwhile, saw the highest rainfall on Thursday with 202 mm recorded until 7:00 pm.
The Met Office forecast heavy rain in two divisions of the country starting Thursday evening. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions over the next 72 hours.
Earlier on Thursday morning, the Meteorological Office announced the possibility of light to moderate rain or thunder showers with gusty winds in most areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, along with some parts of Dhaka division and isolated areas in Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions.
This rain comes as a relief for many who have been struggling with the intense heat for the last two weeks.
