Month-long CMCCI trade fair starts in Ctg on Dec 15

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 12: The month-long Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair of Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will begin in the port city on December 15.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin will inaugurate the 5th BITEF (2018) as the chief guest.
This year the fair is being held at the Mariners Road compound in the city's Feringee Bazar area near the 3rd Karnaphuli Bridge. The field has been rented from the Chittagong Port Authority that owns it.
Convener of BITEF 2018 and director of CMCCI Md Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan said these at a press conference at the conference hall of the CMCCI at Agrabad in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
He said the first four BITEF fairs from 2014 to 2017 were held on the Abahani Ground owned by Chattogram Abahoni Ltd at Halishahar.
The fair will last full one month from December 15 and will remain open from 10 AM to 10 PM on all days with the entry fee set at Tk 10 a person. The fair will span an area of 20,000 square metres with mega pavilions, super pavilions, medium pavilions, stalls and restaurants.
Different banks, corporate houses, insurance and other companies will put on display their products and services. The fair venue will have an eye-catching shower and a huge tower.
It will have a fool-proof security system with a temporary police camp, also regular patrol by members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police, full time CCTV camera and recording system. There will also be a kids' zone for amusement of children.
Ambassadors, high commissioners, other diplomats, dignitaries and business persons from home and abroad were expected to be visiting the fair as in the past, he said. There will be a full time information booth and media centre for the reporters.
They have arranged separate ticket counters for the male and female visitors, alongside arrangements for prayers of the Muslims. President of the CMCCI Khalilur Rahman, vice presidents, directors of the present and past committees and a number of general members of the CMCCI were present at the press conference.
