More arms, ammo recovered from Habiganj jungles

HABIGANJ, June 9 (UNB): Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members on the seventh day of their drive recovered on Monday more cache of firearms and ammunition from Satchhari jungles along the Indian border in Chunarughat upazila.
The Rab team which is continuing their drive in Satchhari jungles recovered 54 anti-rockets, 633 rounds of 7.62 mm bullets and a barrel from a bunker in the jungles in the morning, Assistant police superintendent Sana Samiur Rahman of Rab-9 confirmed UNB.
Earlier on June 3, the team of Rab-9, led by additional director general Ziaul Ahsan, launched the special drive in Satachhari jungles at 10:00am and recovered huge arms and ammunition from two bunkers.
They halted the drive in the evening due to heavy rain.
The team in the morning of June 4 recovered 222 (80 mm) anti-rockets, 248 rocket-chargers, four machineguns (7.62), five barrels, 11,667 rounds of 7.62 mm bullets, 1320 rounds of 12.7 mm bullets and a rocket launcher.
After four days, the Rab team again recovered more arms and ammunition from the same jungles today morning.
Acting on the information, huge Rab members took position in the deep forest and later took control of the area.
During the drive, bomb disposal experts of the elite force detected five bunkers.
Later, they entered the bunkers removing earth and recovered the arms and ammunition.
