Thursday, 23 October 2014

Another arrest warrant has been issued for Abdul Latif Siddiqui. The court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mashiur Rahman on Thursday issued warrant for arrest of the former telecom minister in connection with four cases filed against him for 'hurting religious sentiments of Mislims'. Lawyers Kawser Parvin, Abdus Sattar, Iftekhar Mohsin and Mohammad Kaiyum filed the cases on Oct 1. The court ordered Siddiqui to appear before it on Oct 23. The arrest warrants were issued as he failed to appear on Thursday. The Tangail-4 MP drew widespread condemnation after making derogatory remarks on Holy Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat at a programme in New York on Sept 28, according to a new agency.
