More budgetary allocation to LG bodies urged

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

Economists at a discussion in Dhaka on Tuesday underscored increasing budgetary allocation for strengthening the local government (LG) bodies to reach facilities at marginal level. They said the government has given 2.37 per cent of development allocation of the total budget for the local government bodies in 2013-14 fiscal. But this is not enough. Governance Advocacy Forum, a platform of non-government organisations, arranged the discussion, titled ‘Decentralisation of Budget: Rational Allocation for the Local Government Bodies’, at seminar hall of the Daily Star Bhaban in the capital, according to a news agency.
