Two people were killed in separate incidents in Rupganj and Fatulla Upazilas of Narayanganj district at some time between Friday night and Saturday morning. Thirty eight-year old Anwar Hossain was found dead in Rupganj’s Machhimpur. Rupganj police OC Mir Asaduzzaman said Hossain’s body had torture marks. It was not clear why he was murdered and who the killers were. Locals say Hossain, hailing from Narsinghdi Sadar Upazila, lived at Asad Ali’s house in Barpa, Rupganj. There was no indication that he had any prior animosity with anyone. In another incident, a male worker was lynched allegedly by his co-workers in a dying factory in Fatulla. Police identified the victim as Kamal Sheikh, 28, hailing from Khulna. Fatulla police OC Asaduzzaman said four of Sheikh’s co-workers had been detained over the incident. He, however, could not say why Sheikh’s colleagues attacked him. Narayanganj has been the centre of attention since seven people were killed following abduction on April 27, according to a news agency.
