More Dutch FDI sought

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has called upon the Dutch investors to invest directly or relocate their sophisticated hi-tech industries in Bangladesh.The Industries Minister at a seminar Tuesday welcomed the FDI from the Dutch investors in different local prospective industrial sectors. Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) arranged the seminar on “Bangladesh: Road to Recovery” at a city club. The potential sectors that the minister mentioned for FDI are ship-building, ship-breaking, ship-recycling, automobile, light engineering, plastic, ICT, pharmaceuticals, chemical fertilizer, electric and electronics, agro-processing & agro-based industries, leather and jute products. Mr Amu was the chief guest while Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), was the special guest, Shahzada Hamid, president of DBCCI, gave welcome address and its adviser Ashraf ud Doula gave vote of thanks at the function. The chamber secretary general M Zakir Hossain moderated the seminar, which was attended, among others, by Ms Carmen Gomez Puron, second secretary, EU delegation, a good number of business leaders from both Bangladesh and Netherlands.
