More gold seized at Shah Amanat

One day after discovering one of the biggest gold hauls in the country, custom officials at Hazrat Shah Amanat (RA) International Airport in Chittagong seized six gold bars weighing 700 grams on Friday morning. Parvez Al Zaman, Assistant Commissioner (Customs) of the airport, said a flight of Oman airways from Muscat landed at the airport around 09:30am. The customs officials recovered the gold bars after searching the luggage of two passengers – Rahim Uddin, 40, and Nurul Haque, 42. The value of the seized gold bar is around Tk 3 million, the Customs official said. On Thursday, the customs officials recovered 420 gold bars, weighing around 48 kgs, from a plane at the airport. Cleaners found the gold bars in an abandoned condition in the aircraft of ‘Fly Dubai’ which landed at the airport around 8:30 pm. Informed, customs officials searched different parts of the carrier, including its toilet, and recovered the gold, according to UNB.
