More organisations continue flood-relief programme

A number of organisations and corporate bodies, including Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited (BPL), are continuing their relief operations among the flood-affected people across the country.
SCB: Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer Osman Morad, on behalf of the bank, handed over a cheque of Tk 15 million to Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed for the CA's relief and welfare fund at his office recently.
SCB Head of Corporate Affairs Shah Masud Imam was also present on the occasion.
BEPZA:Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and the investors of the EPZs have donated over Tk 15 million to the CA's relief fund for helping the flood-affected people.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Ashraf Abdullah Yussuf handed over a cheque of the said amount to the CA at his office Saturday. On behalf of the investors of the EPZs, one representative from Youngone Group accompanied him on the occasion.
The employees of BEPZA have donated their one-day's salary, while BEPZA Public School and College including Medical Centre, Trusty Board of Chittagong EPZ and the investors of the EPZs contributed to the donation.
DBBL :Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) has donated 2,00,000 packets of rice saline, 2,00,000 packets of OR saline, 50,000 water-purifying tablets, and 10,000 bags of intravenous (IV) cholera saline for the victims of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases, the onslaught of which has been almost epidemic after the devastating flood.
DBBL chairman, managing director and a director handed over samples of saline and tablet to Health and Family Welfare Adviser ASM Matiur Rahman at his office Monday.
The total cost of the relief materials is around Tk 3 million. DBBL has already donated Tk 10.0 million to the CA's fund.
Banglalink :A car-rally, comprising leading and popular solo singers and musical bands, was organised by Carnival Event Management, as a part of the Banglalink Desh Music Fest 2007, a segment of Banglalink's ongoing charity activities for the flood-hit people.
Banglalink Senior Manager (PR and Communications) Solaiman Alam and Carnival CEO Monirul Alam Tipu were also present at the rally.
All of the major bands, music icons and companies have come forward to participate in this two-day charitable event that will be held at Fantasy Kingdom on August 17-18.
Beximco Pharma :The officials of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited (BPL), in cooperation with local administration, distributed packs of relief materials among the flood-hit people of different remote areas under Bhuapur upazila in Tangail Sunday.
Each relief pack of BPL included flattened rice, molasses, biscuit and water-purifying tablets.
