Sunday, 2 February 2014

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday said the government is working on a plan to set up one or two more special economic zones (SEZs) in the country. Talking to the representatives of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at a meeting at the ministry, the Industries Minister also said the process of sight selection for the SEZs is going on. Amu also called upon the businesses to adopt jute products for the packaging of their products. The DCCI leaders suggested that the government should consider the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as the mainstay for a balanced, longer-term industrial development in the country. The DCCI delegation was headed by its newly-elected president Md Shahjahan Khan, according to a news agency.
