More to join ban list

Wednesday, 9 April 2014

The list of banned organisations is getting longer. The government is close to adding at least nine more extremist outfits to a list that already has five, said State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Kamal. The junior minister, however, declined to reveal the names just yet while speaking to a journalist on Tuesday. “I can’t tell you the names now. But they would be discussed in Wednesday’s (April 9) meeting,” said Kamal, who heads the national counter-terrorism committee, formed in 2009. Its last meeting was held in June 2013. Several members of the committee, preferring anonymity, told media that ‘Jayes-e-Mohammad’, ‘Hizbul Mujahideen’, ‘Kalema-e-Jamaat’, ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ and ‘Hizbul Mahadee’ were among those to face ban, according to bdnews24.com.
