Moriarty callson Information Minister

US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty Tuesday appreciated the present free mass media in the country following enactment of the Right to Information Act to ensure free flow of information and transition to democracy, reports BSS.
The appreciation came while the US envoy was talking to newsmen after a courtesy call on Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad at the latter's office in the city.
Moriarty said the freedom of mass media side with free flow of information is essential for development of democracy. He assured that the US would continue its strong support for flourishing democracy in Bangladesh.
Azad said the envoy was apprised of the activities of the information ministry and state of the mass media apart from the issues of bilateral interest.
The envoy said US President Barack Obama is going to execute his announcement of addressing the Muslims of the world within next few days.
He said Obama would deliver the important speech for the Muslims from the Egyptian capital of Cairo.
