Morning intercity train for Gaibandha urged

GAIBANDHA, Nov 04: The people of Gaibandha and its neighbouring districts have been suffering a lot for not having morning intercity train from Gaibandha to Dinajpur.
Concerned sources said the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education was established in Dinajpur in 2006 and all of the high schools and colleges of Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Rangpur districts are under this board.
As a result, teachers, staff and members of school managing committee and college governing body are to go to the board for official work frequently.
But at present, no Dinajpur-bound morning shift intercity train is running from Gaibandha causing problems and untold sufferings to the people of the districts.
Railway sources said an intercity train 'Dolonchapa' is running from Dinajpur to Shantahar via Rangpur, Kaunia, Gaibandha and Bogra everyday but it can not help the people go to Dinajpur Education Board in the morning.
The Shantahar-bound Donlonchapa train starts its journey from Dinajpur at 6.10 am and arrives at Gaibandha rail station at 10.45 am. The train again arrives at Gaibandha station at 5.11 pm after returning from Shantahar and reaches the Dinajpur station at 8.45 pm, sources said.
If any one wants to go to Dinajpur Board for official work on a specific date he/she has to reach Dinajpur town a day before by the Dolonchapa train. After completing the work in the afternoon of the scheduled day, he has to stay there as there is no Gaibandha bound train from Dinajpur in the afternoon or evening.
After passing two nights the person has to start for Gaibandha from Dinajpur at 6.10 am by Dolanchapa.
Principal of Gaibandha Government College Professor Rezaul Karim said, "We can't go to Dinajpur Board from here in the morning by train. Compelled we have to go there by bus facing a lot of troubles."
Shahana Banu, head teacher of Gaibandha Government Boys' High School said the institution-related persons of Gaibandha can go to Dinajpur Board and come back on the same day after completing their official works if a Dinajpur bound intercity train starts it journey from Bonarpara of Gaibandha in the early morning.
