Morshed Ibrahim elected CCCI president

CHITTAGONG, December 8: CCCI director, MD of Crystal Group Morshed Murad Ibrahim has been elected president of the apex trade body of Chittagong. Khatungonj Trade & Industry Association president Mahbubul Alam has become senior vice president while Nurun Newaj Selim, chairman of Electro Mart has been elected vice president.
The executives were elected by the board of directors in the meeting held this afternoon with newly elected director Mazharul Islam Chowdhury in the chair. The election was held under the supervision of the election conducting committee.
CCCI release said Murad Ibrahim is former director of IFIC Bank, FBCCI, CSE and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Chapter, and BTMEA. He is the eldest son of late MP from Chittagong Kotwali constituency, former administrator of Chittagong City Corporation and CCCI president Sekandar Hussain Meah and husband of Mahzabin Morshed MP of the ruling grand alliance.
Morshed was born in a respectable family in the Chittagong city in the year 1966. He had his bachelors degree from the University of Chittagong.
Mahbubul Alam, apart from being Khatungonj Trade Association chief, is the vice chairman of Asia Insurance Ltd. He was born at Raozan village in 1958 and obtained his masters degree from the CU and was the social welfare secretary of CU students union.
Nurun Newaz Selin hails from Feni district. Selim was born in 1953. He is currently director of NCCB Ltd. He was chairman of the NCCB and Central Insurance Co.
The newly elected directors of the CCCI are: MA Salam, Ashiq Bhuiyan, Shahin Alam, Abdullah al Hasan, Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, Emdadul Huq Chowdhury, Captain Shafi Chowdhury, Habibul Huq, Sk Mahfuz Hamid, Zahid Hossain Meah, Morshed Arif Chowdhury, Syed Sagir Ahmed, SM Mahbubul Islam, Mahfuzul Huq Shah, Zahirul Islam Chowdhury, Ohid Siraj Chowdhury, Zahurul Alam, Afsar Hasan Chowdhury, Omar Faruk, Arshadul Alam and Syed Jamal Ahmed.
