Mosharraf urges business people to follow trade ethics

FARIDPUR, Apr 10 (BSS): Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain urged upon the business people on Thursday evening to follow the business ethics to ensure respite for the consumers.
The minister was speaking here at local Ambica Memorial Hall ground in the town as the chief guest at the installation function of the newly elected office bearers of Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). The function was chaired by the outgoing president of the trade body Aowlad Hossain Babor.
Addressing the huge gatherings of the local business people and elite the minister said that since Awami League came to power in 2009 through a fair election he has made this district free from terrorism, extortionists and snatchers and thus has made this district business friendly and investment friendly which is still prevailing.
During this time a new development episode has taken place bringing radical changes in the field of infrastructure, education, health, communication, socialcultural and more importantly in the law and order situation, he mentioned.
Mr Mosharraf said that under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh has made tremendous progress in the economic field also in the other sectors of social advancement and urged upon all to extend their unequivocal support to help continue this trend.
The minister called upon the traders to make profit judiciously so that it cannot create discomfort to the consumers. He also told them to stop selling of adulterated food items injurious to public health and in that case the dishonest traders might face punishment by the mobile courts.
He disclosed to the audience that an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) is going to be set up here and for the purpose 900 hundred acres of land has already been arranged in the suburb of the town. There will be about 250 industrial units which will create employment opportunities for thousands of people of this district as well as fetch foreign currency, he pointed out.
Mr Mosharraf pointing to the business people said that there any little and collective contributions can bring welfare to the people and society and they can also contribute for the progress of this district where the important per-requisites like law and order situation and infrastructural improvement have taken place during last six years.
He declared that under the present government the country will be a middle income country by 2021.
The function was also addressed among others by former FBCCI president Mir Nasir Hossain, deputy commissioner Sardar Sharafat Ali, police super Md Jamil Hassan, Sadar upazilla parishad chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor, newly elected president of FCCI Md. Jahangir Mia and newly elected vice-president of FCCI Nasiruddin Khan.
