CHITTAGONG, July 28 : Most of the city roads are in deplorable state as these were not repaired even before the monsoon.
The road beginning from Gone Bakery crossing upto Bahadderhat area via College Road, Chawkbazar, Kapashgola and Badurtola has been lying dilapidated for long two years due to lack of necessary repair. Big holes and cracks have developed over the road.
Accidents have become regular features of the road. It also leads to tedious traffic congestion thus wasting valuable working hours of the city dwellers who travel through the routea.
It is alleged, as the bitumen and stones, main requisites for constructing and repairing of roads, are not adequately supplied by the contractors at the time of construction.
Heavy showers of rains and water logging aggravated the condition of the road.
According to Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) sources, due to lack of adequate fund, CCC cannot continue maintenance works of the city roads properly and timely.
