Most of essentials cheaper in BDR run mkts

Most of the essentials, including rice, lentil and potato were sold at cheaper prices at BDR-run sales centres and markets in the city Friday compared to prices at ordinary city markets, reports BSS.
According to a market report released by the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in the city Friday, the price of coarse rice in different markets, including Kamalapur, New Market, Karwanbazar, Kalyanpur, Kachukhet and Mohammadpur, ranged between Tk 23 to 24 per kg.
Rice was sold at Tk 24 at BDR-run open markets and Tk 20 at BDR-run sales centres Thursday while in Kolkata per kg coarse rice was sold at a price equivalent to Bangladesh Tk 21.62.
Each kg of packet flour was selling at Tk 37 and Tk 39 in ordinary markets while the price of the same item was Tk 38 in BDR-run open markets and Tk 35 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the flour is being sold at Tk 25.22 per kg, the report said.
The price of imported lentil (mashur) is ranging between Tk 63 to Tk 68 per kg in ordinary markets, while it is being sold at Tk 64 in BDR-run open markets and Tk 60 at BDR-run sales centres. In Kolkata, the price of the lentil is Tk 61.26 per kg.
Onion (imported) was sold at Tk 35 to Tk 55 per kg in ordinary city markets while its price in Kolkata was Tk 28.57.
Onion is being sold at Tk 45 per kg in BDR-run open markets while Indian onion is being sold at Tk 45 and Chinese onion at Tk 35 at BDR-run sales centres.
Sugar is being sold between Tk 29 to 30 per kg in ordinary markets compared to Tk 26.78 in Kolkata and Tk 29 in BDR-run open markets.
