Most of luxury coach tickets sold in advance before Eid

Bus tickets of most of the luxury coaches operating from Dhaka have been sold in advance on the occasion of Eid-ul Fitr holidays.
Mohamed Nizam, sales executive of Green Line, a popular luxury coach services, told the FE that the available tickets of different routes had been sold in advance.
"We have commissioned two more coaches Sunday and the tickets for the additional coaches have also been sold out," Nizam added.
Buses of Green Line, Silk Line, Neptune and Shohagh ply between Dhaka and major cities including Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi.
One official of the Silk Line office at Arambagh said that they do not have any more tickets for the period between October 8 and 13.
Besides, sources at the launch services said that the tickets of cabins of the private and public passenger vessels have already exhausted with around 12 days remaining for the Eid festival.
Vice president of Bangladesh Inland Water Passenger Launch Owners Association, Shahabuddin Ahmed told the FE that some of the private and public launches had already sold out the tickets of the cabins in advance.
"We have decided to start selling advance tickets for cabins and other categories today (Monday), but some owners had sold out theirs following mad rush," he added.
Officials at the Unique Paribahan told the FE that it had been selling advance tickets over the past couple of days.
"We have tickets and we are expecting that it will exhaust shortly as we are noticing a rush," he said
On the other hand, government-run transport agencies including Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) will start advance selling of tickets from its head offices and other launch terminals from tomorrow (Tuesday).
Apart from this, the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will start issuing advance tickets from today (Monday).
Mohamed Ali, director (commerce) of the BIWTC said that it will start selling tickets from Tuesday and it will continue until October 18.
"Advance tickets for the first class will be available at our head office at Dilkhusha and the tickets of other classes will be available at Badamtoly and other launch terminals," he added.
Motahar Hossain, director ports and traffic department of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) said that it had taken steps for combating unethical practices this time.
Besides, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Sunday formed three vigilance teams to inspect different city bus terminals during the period so that bus owners cannot charge exorbitant fares on the occasion of the Eid holiday.
The teams comprising representatives from the BRTA and law enforcing agencies will resist ticket black marketers and check carrying of excess passengers by the buses.
The Bangladesh Railway will start advance selling of tickets from October 4.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Shipping will hold a meeting with the stakeholders for ensuring smooth operation of private and public run transports today (Monday) at the ministry, sources said.
