Mother held in city for killing son

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested a woman along with her three associates on charge of killing her son. The detectives conducted simultaneous drives in the capital and outside the city on Thursday and arrested them. The arrestees were identified as Mariam Begum, 44, her lover Azizul Haque, alias Aziz, 50, Manzurul Islam, 52, and Tofazzal Hossain, 65. Demra Thana police recovered the body of Kamruzzaman, 30, son of Mariam, from Shukrosi on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at about 11:45pm on August 12. Ashek Ali, 50, the father of the victim, identified the body of Kamruzzaman in Demra police station the following day. Later, a case was filed with the police station in connection with the killing on the following day. Briefing reporters at DMP Media centre on Friday, Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam said the case was transferred to DB, according to UNB.
