Mother of 3 killed by husband

A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Mohammadpur upazila in Magura on Friday. The deceased was identified as Runa Khatun, 30, wife of Jahid Molla of Jhama village. Quoting locals, Manirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, said Jahid had married Runa Begum, daughter of Abdul Baki of Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district, 10 years ago. The couple had three daughters. However, Jahid started torturing Runa for dowry since after some years of their marriage. On Friday morning, Jahid told Runa to bring some money as dowry from her father’s house which Runa refused. Angered by the refusal, Jahid became incensed and starting beating Ranu. At one stage he beat her with stick mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot, according to a news agency.
