Mother, son among 3 killed in city road accident

Three people, including a woman and her son, were killed in separate road accidents in the city's Jatrabari and Demra areas on Friday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Shakila Israt Jhumu, 28, her son Hamim, 5, and Farida Begum, 33.
Hospital sources said Shakila along with her son Hamim and daughter Ritu, 9, was going to the house of one of her relatives from their Shanir Akhra residence by a rickshaw in the morning.
When they reached near Maa O Shishu Hospital of Matuail under Jatrabari police station at about 9:30 am, a pickup hit the rickshaw, injuring the trio.
They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Shakila and Hamim were pronounced dead around 11:30am. Ritu was given first aid at the hospital.
In another incident, Farida and her husband Abul Hossain were going to Demra from their Sabujbagh residence on a motorbike.
When the motorcycle reached Amulia road of Demra, an oil tanker crashed into the bike around 9am, injuring the couple.
They were also rushed to the DMCH where on-duty doctor declared Farida dead at about 9:55am.
