Mother, son killed: Father\\\'s fiancée held

Police have arrested the alleged girlfriend of a man who is suspected to have murdered his wife and son at Mirpur's Paikparha in the city. The man, Amanullah Aman, 35, was also arrested on Wednesday after his wife Irin Aktar Arju, 26, and their 7-year-old son ‘Sabit’ were found dead. Aman’s alleged 26-year-old fiancée was picked up from her home in Darus Salam under Mirpur Model Police Station on Thursday afternoon. Sub-Inspector (SI) Moazzem Hossain said that Irin’s family had claimed that Aman killed his wife and son following a conjugal discord over his extramarital affair. Police took the bodies of Irin and Sabit to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy after recovering them from Mirpur’s Delta Medical College and Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, respectively, on Wednesday. SI Hossain, who prepared the inquest report, said, ‘There were no wound marks on their bodies. It cannot be said at this point whether they committed suicide.’ He said the suspicion is that the mother and son were strangulated. ‘But the cause of death will only become clear after the autopsy,’ he added, according to bdnews24.com.
