Mother, son killed in Faridpur road crash

A woman and her son were crushed to death by a bus after an auto-rickshaw hit their motorcycle at Kanaipur in Sadar upazila of Faridpur on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Shikha Begum, 40, wife of Wahiduzzaman of Dhuljuri village in Alfadanga upazila and their son Touhidur Ahmed Sumon, 19, a first year Sociology student of Faridpur Govt Rajendra College. Sergeant Arif Hossain Khan of Kanaipur Highway Police camp said Shikha and Sumon fell onto the ground after the three-wheeler crashed into their bike around 4pm. Soon, a bus of ‘Royal Paribahan’ ran over the duo before hitting the auto-rickshaw, killing Shikha on the spot and injuring Sumon. Injured Sumon was first rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where doctors referred him to Dhaka. He, however, died on the way to the capital. Four passengers of the three-wheeler were also injured in the accident, according to UNB.
