Some prominent cable operators of the city signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fiber@Home Ltd, country's first Nationwide Teleco-mmunication Transmission Network (NTTN) operator, to use its underground fibre optic cable network, reports UNB.
Earlier, four prominent Internet Service Providers (ISP's) signed similar MoUs with Fiber@Home.
The signing took place in the wake of government's decision to dismount the haphazardly placed overhead unauthorised cable. The MoU were signed at the end of recently concluded exhibition of WTISD'10 in the city.
Managing Director of Fiber@Home Moynul Haque Siddiqui and directors and other high officials of respective Cable operators signed the MoU on behalf of their organisations.
With signing of this MoU, prominent Cable TV operators United Communication Services Ltd (UCS), Digi21 Systems Ltd, Bengal Communications Limited, Prisma Digital Ltd and Cosmic Cable Operators Ltd will use Fiber@Home's underground fiber cable network to provide client services in the city.
By using a common underground network, Cable TV operators will be able to dismount the haphazardly erected unauthorised overhead cable and be able to provide their services countrywide at a reduced cost.
