BNP Standing Committee Member and former Law Minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed Thursday criticised the government for its decision to cancel allotment of party chief Khaleda Zia's cantonment residence, reports BSS.
This is a political decision, he said adding that they will face the issue through legal means, if the government goes to the court.
Barrister Moudud made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a protest meeting organised by Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) auditorium in the city Thursday.
Presided over by Daily Amardesh Publication Limited Chairman Mahmudur Rahman, the meeting was also addressed by former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Maniruzzaman Mian as the special guest.
Dhaka University Prof Aminur Rahman Majumder, Agriculturist Anwarul Nabi Majumder, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) leader Dr Mostak Rahim Swapan, Teacher-Employees Unity Alliance Chief Coordinator M Selim Bhuiyan, lawyer leader Adv Masud Talukder and Peshajibi Parishad Coordinator Reazul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
Barrister Moudud said the cabinet should not have taken decision on a issue, which was not in the agenda. Barrister Moudud alleged that the government retrieved a settled issue only to hide its failures.
