Moudud's removal from Khaleda's counsel panel a fake news: BNP

Wednesday, 28 March 2018

BNP leader and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Advocate Zainul Abedin slammed on Tuesday the media reports that had stated that party chairperson Khaleda Zia asked Moudud Ahmed to step aside from her counsel panel and said it was totally a fake news, reports UNB.
The SCBA president came up with the remarks at a press conference held at his office.
He referred to a report of national daily 'AmaderSomoy' published on Tuesday saying that during lawyers' recent meeting with party's chairperson at the jail, Khaleda asked BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed to step aside from her lawyers' panel.
Zainul Abedin said "The report of 'AmaderSomoy' is totally fake and baseless. After winning the SCBA polls, six of us went to jail to meet the chairperson while Moudud Ahmed had another appointment so he could not go with us. Khaleda Zia at first greeted us. She told us to continue the inner-coordination to deal with the cases filed against her."
"She believes we will free her legally without any political interference while we told her that the ruling party and government can't jail her for long, no matter how much they try", he said.
"The fake news not only hampered the reputation of the senior leader and eminent lawyer Moudud Ahmed but also triggered political confusion in the party, but we don't have any disunity among us and the report was completely fallacious", he said.
