Wednesday, 22 May 2024

Bangladesh has announced a day of mourning for tomorrow (Thursday) over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, reports bdnews24.com.
The Cabinet Division made the announcement in a notice on Tuesday.
A day of state mourning has been declared on Thursday, May 23, to commemorate the death of Iranian President Raisi and others in a helicopter accident in East Azerbaijan province on May 19, the notice said.
All public, semi-public, autonomous institutions, all schools and private and public buildings in Bangladesh and in Bangladeshi missions abroad will fly the national flag at half-mast
A special prayer service will be held for the souls of the departed at all mosques across Bangladesh and religious institutions will also arrange their own prayers.
Raisi, considered a potential successor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed when his helicopter crashed in poor weather in the mountains near the Azerbaijan border on Sunday.
The charred wreckage of the craft carrying Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and six other passengers and crew was found early on Monday after an extended search in blizzard conditions.
