Mourning Day today

Mourning day will be observed across the country today (Tuesday) for those who died in clashes during students' demonstrations for quota reform last week.
The decision came at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office, reports UNB.
The meeting also adopted a condolence proposal over the lives lost in the countrywide mayhem.
Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain briefed reporters at Bangladesh Secretariat about the outcomes of the cabinet meeting.
Everyone would wear black badges and prayers would be offered in mosques, temples, pagodas and churches, he added.
In the meeting, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan placed a report about the situation created in the country centring on the quota movement, he said.
Replying to a question, the Cabinet Secretary said the home minister informed the meeting that the death toll increased by three in the violence.
Earlier, the home minister said a total of 147 people were killed in the violence linked to the quota reform protests.
However, the Cabinet gave its final approval to the draft of the Maheshkhali-Kutubdia Integrated Development Authority, 2024.
The meeting approved ratification of the Agreement between Bangladesh and Thailand on Visa Exemption for Holders of Official Passports; the draft of bilateral flight operations agreement between Bangladesh and India; and the draft of Agreement for Cooperation in the Legal field between Bangladesh and Qatar.
In the meeting, the quarterly report (April-June, 2024) on the cabinet's decision was placed.
As per the report, 39 out of 60 decisions taken in seven Cabinet meetings were implemented.
