Move to digitise the Holy Quran

Islamic Foundation has undertaken steps to digitize the holy Quran, reports BSS. The initiatives have been undertaken following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, an Islamic Foundation press release said in the city Monday. To this end, a meeting was held at the foundation with Religious Affairs Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal in the chair. "The work on digitizing the Quran will be completed within the shortest possible time," the release said. With the digitization of the Quran, it said, anybody can read it with correct Arabic pronunciation as well as its translation in English and Bangla through Internet. Director General of Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal, Joint Secretary of Religious Affairs Ministry Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Director of Planning Division of the Foundation Md Shahabuddin Khan, Director of Publication Department Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi and other religious leaders were present at the meeting. The meeting took a decision to form a committee comprising the ulama to digitalise the Quran correctly.
