Move underway to set up 3 hi-tech parks

A move is underway to set up three more hi-tech parks in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet, according to official sources. Dhaka’s hi-tech park will be set up on a 47-acre land at Karail Slum in Mohakhali area while that of Rajshahi on a 34.56-acre land at Poba upazila and that of Sylhet on a 162.83-acre land at Companiganj upazila. The three hi-tech parks will be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) of the ICT Ministry. The sources said the ICT Ministry has moved a proposal to have the approval from the Cabinet Economic Affair Committee, the government’s highest policymaking body, to implement the three projects, according to a news agency.
