Mozena for credible probe into Rab role

Thursday, 22 May 2014

Dan W Mozena, the US ambassador in Dhaka, has urged the Bangladesh government to conduct ‘thorough, timely and credible’ investigations into all allegations of human rights violations against the country’s elite police unit Rapid Action Battalion (Rab). Mozena said on Thursday the government should report the findings of those investigations, including Narayanganj 7-murder, 'in a transparent manner' as he said ‘every Bangladeshi knows recent events have cast a dark shadow over the Rab’. He was distributing certificates to a group of Rab officers who underwent criminal investigation and instructor development courses with US help at its headquarters in Dhaka’s Uttara, according to bdnews24.com.
