Monday, 17 February 2014

A new ‘American Corner’ will be inaugurated in Rajshahi on Tuesday linking a nationwide network of American Spaces in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna and over 400 American Spaces around the world. The newest American Corner, established in partnership with the Language Proficiency Center, will provide the Rajshahi community access to over $100,000 in educational materials, computer equipment, and scholarly online resources. US Ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena will inaugurate it at 2:30pm, said a media release issued by the US Embassy on Monday. During the two-day visit in Rajshahi, the US Ambassador will meet with civil society, government and law enforcement officials, alumni of US Department of State exchange programmes, and local NGOs active in anti-human-trafficking efforts. Ambassador Mozena will visit the Varendra Research Museum on Wednesday to see its recently completed $94,933 interior renovation project funded by the United States through the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, according to a news agency.
