Mozena, Tofail discuss GSP

US Ambassador Dan Mozena Sunday expressed 'satisfaction' over Bangladesh's progress in implementation of the 16-point action plan that the US administration has tagged as a condition for restoring the GSP facility for its exports to the US market, reports UNB.
Mozena met Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed at the Secretariat to discuss the GSP (Generalised System of Preference) issue and the progress of the action plan, said a PID handout.
It said Bangladesh has already fulfilled most of the conditions of the action plan, except a few, including appointment of 200 labour inspectors, creation of a database of workers, allowing trade unions in EPZs, and steps against 19 non-compliant readymade garment (RMG) factories so far identified.
Bangladesh has a commitment to fulfill all the conditions of the action plan by March.
