Mozena urges BD youths to work together to overcome challenges

US Ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena said Tuesday Bangladesh has many challenges in its way to become Asia's next economic tiger and urged the youth to take the lead in overcoming the challenges, reports UNB.
"I believe Bangladesh should be Asia's next economic tiger. Of course, the challenges are many," he said while addressing a function in the city on the occasion of International Youth Day-2014.
Mozena listed inadequate roads, railroads, port capacity, energy and power supplies and governance issues such as corruption, the rule of law, red tape, and political instability as challenges ahead.
The US diplomat urged the youth to use their skills to overcome these challenges and use their skills to seize the great opportunities of Bangladesh. "This is your (youth) task."
Chairperson of Millennium University Board of Trustee Rukhsana Khandaker, Vice Chancellor Prof Abu Ayub Md Baquer, administrators, faculty and staff of the university were also present.
The US envoy said Bangladesh is a rich nation, blessed with fertile soil, ample water, perfect growing climate, coal and gas resources, and the world's most hard working, creative, entrepreneurial, resilient people. "Truly, God has much favoured Bangladesh," he added.
He also said Bangladesh should be number one apparel exporter in the world and a major global player in producing generic pharmaceuticals, shoes, finished leather goods, frozen shrimp, small freighters, software and other IT services, bone china, flowers, jute products, silk products and so much more.
