Mozena visits NCVI in Rangpur

US Ambassador in Bangladesh Dan W Mozena visited Nijera Cottage and Village Industries (NCVI) Ltd, a natural indigo producing social enterprise of the extremely poor in Rajendrapur village in Rangpur Thursday, reports BSS.
The exceptional enterprise was set up in 2008 initially by 200 extremely poor people of Rajendrapur area with the assistances of CARE Bangladesh and is being run successfully by them with the principle of 'We are Workers, We are Owners.'
NCVI Chairman Sumanto Kumar and Managing Director Salma Begum along with other members of the organisation accorded floral welcome to the US envoy after his arrival there along with high officials of CARE Bangladesh.
Country Director of CARE Bangladesh Zemi Terzi, its Director Anwarul Haque, Team Leader of the Social Economic Transformation of the Ultra Poor (SETU) project Abdul Matin and other officials of CARE Bangladesh accompanied Mozena.
NCVI Chairman Sumanto Kumar, Managing Director Salma Begum and Director of CARE Bangladesh Anwarul Haque briefed Mozena on indigo cultivation, process for its commercial production and success story of winning over poverty by the rural poor.
